Winter Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca. Even though it has been cold, sunny, rainy, cludy, you name it, we've had it, the trout bite remains good for the bait fishers. Using scent will give an advantage due to the cold water.

WE ARE NOW OPEN 7 DAYS A WEEK AT 6 AM. CLOSING TIME VARIES ACCORDING TO SUNSET.

Trout Bait: 12" leader, inflated nightcrawler smeared with scent, or Power Bait fished off the bottom dipped in Pautzke's Krill Gel.

Best Lures: Orange Rapala, Gold Panther Martin. Dipped in scent.

Best Spots: Lone Pine, Dike, Chambers Park, trolling entire lake.

Notable: John & Ray of San Diego, each took a limit. The largest was 2 pounds. Renee from La Mesa caught a 3 1/2 pound Rainbow using Power Bait on the shoreline. One of our regulars, Flea from Descanso, used a nightcrawler to catch a 4 pound trout at the South buoy line.

Nature Walk: The self guided walk is 3 1/2 miles around the lake. Look for the Bald Eagles and the Osprey that hang around this time of year.

Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10 AM. Ranger Charlie will teach Trout tactics that work here at Lake Cuyamaca. Meet at the Launch Ramp.

Jess Ranch stocked 1200 pounds of nice trout on Monday, March 2. Still lots of fish out there.

THE DECONTAMINATION WASH DOWN IS REQUIRED FOR ALL PRIVATE VESSELS BEFORE LAUNCH. A FEE IS CHARGED.
