Hello from Lake Jennings! This weekend the anglers struggled to get bit
whether it was bass, cats or trout. Surprisingly, a few limits of trout came
off the fishing float and Shadow Cove. The first signs of shad being chased
on the surface by bass happened early mornings and a few fish were taken
by topwater casting to the boils. The cats were the biggest disappointment.
The back end of Hermit Cove and the bird trees were the best bet but the average there was one cat
per person.
Best Trout Spots: Shadow Cove and the fishing float.
Best Trout Lures/Bait: Power bait on a 4 ft. leader dipped in scent.
Best Catfish Spots: Bird trees and Hermit Cove.
Best Catfish Bait: Night crawlers and mackerel. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Think postspawn. Sentry and Eagle Points in 25 to 30 ft. Topwater at the bank
early and late and the Hermit Cove and the Shadow Cove Buoylines casting to the boils.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Dropshotting 4" worms. Frogs and chug bugs.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. reported.
Prognosis: Remember that we do not open until 5:00 p.m. this Friday. No stocking this week, but
with the success rate of this week there are still a lot out there.
Water Temperature: 70 to 71 degrees on surface.
Current Schedule: We'll be open this Friday from 5:00 p.m. ??? Midnight, Saturday from 5:45 a.m. ???
Midnight, and Sunday from 5:45 a.m. ??? 8:30 p.m.
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about cat fishing. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Lake Jennings Fish Report
Lake JenningsHello from Lake Jennings! The trout bite is slowly winding down. The only good spot from shore has been the fishing float. Fishing deep by boat in the middle of Half Moon and south of Eagle Point. Crawlers are outperforming Power Bait. The bass are definitely post spawn. 20 ft. clear water dictates light lines. Dropshotting the points in 25 to 35 ft. of water or frogs dragged off the bank early and late. Speaking of catfish: Night fishing starts Memorial Day weekend. Starting May 22,...... Read More

Lake JenningsHello from Lake Jennings! If your memory is like mine then you won't recognize that this week's report is just like last weeks. The trout have started to move out to deeper water. A few limits were caught out by the buoy line by drifting nightcrawlers down to 100 ft. Bass are scattered. Most are being caught off the points in 20 ft. of water. A few are being caught along the bank. It is definitely post-spawn!!!!! Dropshotting by far is producing the greatest numbers. Cats...... Read More
