  • Stocking: The last stocking of 1,000 lbs. was last week. The next catfish stocking will be the week of September 13th. Another 1,000 pounds will go into the lake for a total of 8,000 pounds so far this year! For an updated stocking schedule, click HERE.
  • What's the catch? This time of year fish are avoiding the sunlight, so drop your line anywhere with vegetation, structure or cover from the shoreline. Catfish, bass, and panfish are all seeking cover on bright sunny days. Dangle your lure or bait just to the outside of the structure to avoid catching your hook. This will also make it easier to reel your catch in. We heard multiple reports of all species biting on nightcrawlers this weekend. Bass were caught near the t-dock and catfish were reeled in from Cloister and Hermit Coves.
  • Reminder: There is no fishing from the boat dock, dock ramp, or boat launch. Likewise, all boats need to maintain at least a 50 foot distance from the boat dock as a measure of safety. Thank you for your compliance!
  • Lake Open on Labor Day: On Monday, September 6th the lake will be open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Boat rentals and launches are available. There are a few sites left in our campground for the holiday weekend. Click HERE to book a reservation.
  • Conditions: The current temperature is 78 degrees. New Moon is Sunday, September 6th. For a complete weather report in Lakeside, click HERE.
  • New to fishing? California Department of Fish and Wildlife has two free fishing days each year where fishing without a license is okay. The next one is Saturday, September 4th! Come on out to the lake and give it a try. Lake fishing permit fees still apply.
  • Job Openings: We're hiring for several positions at the lake. We are looking for two part-time Assistant Recreation Rangers to work in the bait shop and help maintain the security and safety of the lake. Must have excellent customer service ethic and work with minimal supervision. We are also looking for a Volunteer Park Host to help in our campground. Hosts exchange a minimum of 20 hours of labor/week for a full hook-up campsite. If you are interested in finding out more information regarding these positions, visit the Helix Water District's Career Page.
  • Campground News: Have you seen our new game area in the campground? We have bocce ball, cornhole, giant jenga, and tetherball to round out your camping experience. We also have cornhole and horseshoe sets available for rent and ladderball bolos for purchase to play at our various ladderball courts throughout the campground. Stop by the kiosk and ask about all of the fun campground activities!
  • We love receiving pictures from our fishermen and campers! If you have a picture to share, please send it to ranger@lakejennings.org and we may feature it in our newsletter or social media pages.
