Hello from Lake Jennings! The summer doldrums continue to frustrate us and our anglers. The bite for cats got worse even though 1,000 lbs of cats were planted Friday morning. Sunday morning around 8:30 there was a decent bite back in Hermit Cove but only if you had crawlers. The bass continue to be difficult and if topwater is your thing fugetaboutit. Fishing deep or trolling leadcore. This could change when we start dropping the water level. That gets the crawdads on the move and creature baits will work better.

Best Catfish Spots: Hermit Cove.
Best Catfish Bait: Night crawlers. Use scent liberally.

Best Bass Spots: Sentry Cove on the troll or on the points with 4" worms or jigs.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: # 7 shad rap at 50 ft.

Notables: Sat., Dan Heiser, El Cajon, 10-6 channel cat, main buoyline, mackerel.

Prognosis: Remember that we do not open until 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The nights are still beautiful, and maybe a catfish dinner is in your future. We are down to our last month of night fishing. We predict an uptick in the bite as the full moon wanes.

Water Temperature: Still 78 to 79 degrees on surface. Current Schedule: We'll be open this Friday from 5:00 p.m. - Midnight, Saturday from 5:30 a.m. - Midnight, and Sunday from 5:30 a.m. - 8:30 p.m.

Upcoming Holiday: Remember, we'll be open on Labor Day (Monday, September 7th)!

FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!

Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about cat fishing. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.

Hello from Lake Jennings! Fishing for bass has been suspended!! The only ones getting bit are lead core trollers at 4 colors using a #7 Rapala Shad Rap! Cats are starting their transition out to deeper water. Fishing the shallows in the coves are still producing but not in the numbers that we have seen in previous weeks. Some cats are also being caught in 80 ft. of water. Hit and miss on the red ears. Mostly misses. Fishing is rated as fair overall... Best Catfish...... Read More

Hello from Lake Jennings! Fishing is best described as fair for all species. The spots have not changed or the methods. The fishing float has been averaging one trout limit per day. It is the only spot on the lake to produce trout at all. The numbers are down, and no one has really figured it out. We could blame it on the moon but then our night fishing should be wide open. We could blame it on a visit by aliens in a spaceship...... Read More
