The trout continue to bite on a mixture of mini jigs and powerbait. Natural colors such as green and brown continue to be a hot choice for mini jigs while spring green and rainbow are a favorite powerbait choice. Popular spots include the south shore of Lake 3 and the west shore of Lake 2. The catfish have been biting on shrimp and mackerel. Popular spots include the north shore of Lake 2 and the east shore of Lake 4. The bass continue to bite on soft plastics and jerkbaits. Popular spots include the west shore of Lake 5 and the east shore of Lake 1. A portion of Lakes 2 and 4 will be closed to fishing Thursday, December 2 in order to let the fish acclimate properly. Park hours are now 8 AM to 5 PM Monday-Thursday and 6 AM to 5 PM Friday-Sunday.
December 2 is our next scheduled trout stock. Lakes 2 and 4 will split 1,000 pounds of Rainbow Trout. Santee Kiwanis Children's Derby will take place Saturday, December 4 from 7 AM to 11 AM at south Lake 4 area L. Participants who are 3rd through 8th grade fish for free, vehicle entrance fees still apply.
