Stocking: Catfish season kicked off with 1,500 pounds of cats stocked from Alpine Fishery. The next stocking of 1,000 pounds of catfish will be the week of June 19th. We will stock 8,500 pounds of catfish this season.

What’s the Catch? Despite the catfish stocking, the trout bite was on fire this week and last! Limits are still being pulled mostly by boat. That June gloom that has settled over the lake in the morning helps with the trout bite. Expect trout to be 30-40 feet deep. Mini jigs and powerbait are still the preferred bait. Of course the stock was hungry and biting! Reports were mackerel and garlic shrimp were reeling them in from the t-dock and Siesta Cove. There were a number caught by boat as well closer to the shoreline in Shadow Cove and off of Eggert’s Point. Bass and Bluegill were reported as well. Lots of Redear and Bluegill in Half Moon and Cloister Coves on wax worms.  Bass were reported from the t-dock, big rock, and the old boat launch (the whole southeastern shoreline). Try casting out past the structure.

Conditions: The water temperature at the surface is holding steady at 70 degrees. Despite the aerator being on, there is still a 10 degree difference between the bottom and the surface. The dissolved oxygen is consistent throughout the water column. June gloom prevails in the morning, but by noon the marine layer usually disperses and the afternoons are sunny. New moon is June 17th. The sun is rising at 5:40 a.m. and setting at 7:54 p.m.
