Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca:!!! ALPERS TROUT!!! We will be stocking again this week. 1,200 lbs of Alpers Trout will be stocked before Saturday the 14th. They are known for there "Bad Attitude"?? "Line Busting" and great taste. Come on up and get in on the action!! (??5) five?? "Tagged Trout" will be added to the Inventory. Catching a tagged trout will reward the angler with Motor Boat Rental and 4 fishing permits for(1) one day!!! Trolling is picking up with Rooster Tails and Panther Martins providing the best results. The inventory of trout is still in the anglers favor.?? The Crappie are making a strong showing around the boat dock. Bullhead catfish are very aggressive??in seeking out?? your night crawler on the bottom.????
!!! We now have???? 3 NEW SLEEPING CABINS?? for rent!!!
Trout Bait: 12-24 inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Power Bait,?? salmon eggs.???? (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)
Best Trout Lures:?? Gold Panther Martins and Rooster Tails. Use scent!?? (Krill gel works best)??
Best Trout Spots: Lone Pine, Chambers Park, Tee Dock.
Notable: Mike Hampton, La Mesa, 4lbs 8oz large mouth Bass, Lone Pine, power bait. Russell English, Descanso, 4lbs 8oz Alpers, Lone Pine, night crawlers. Tammy Lewis, Clairemont, 4lbs 8oz Rainbow, Launch Ramp, Power bait.
Fly Fishing:??With some run off try Azalea creek feeding into the south end it should have some fish holding or staging at the mouth. Try a?? Black Wooly Bugger, Olive Matuka, Egg Sucking Leach, slow retrieve.??Bluegill and Crappie taking emergers in shallow water of the south end.
Nature Walk: The guided walk will be conducted by Clint Powell May 6, 2007.The trail is open for daily use. 3 1/2 miles around the lake.
Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: ?? Ranger Charlie?? will teach??tried and true trout techniques using?? bait, tube jigs and lures for trout.??
Prognosis:!!?? With another scheduled stocking this week from Alpers Trout, the weather warming, catching trout, crappie and bullheads will provide plenty of action for anglers of all ages. The water temp near perfect the fish will be feeding, this combined with a?? (huge inventory) of trout its time to come up and catch your limit.. The bigger trout are working the shore lines. Try trolling with gold Panther Martins and Rooster Tails.?? Water?? surface temp 50-54deg. Please feel free to ask our staff any questions you may have.??
