Stocking: Another 1,500 pounds of Rainbow Trout went into the lake last week. DFW put another 600 pounds into the lake this week! Expect another 1,500 pounds from Idaho to go into the lake the week of February 5th. Follow our Instagram feed for the most updated info regarding trout stocking.

What’s the Catch? A little bit of everything last weekend! The trout stock dispersed quickly once they were in the lake. Limits were reported from Hermit and Siesta Coves. The rangers recommend Salmon Peach Salmon Egg and Rainbow Salmon Egg Powerbait in our lake. HookUp Baits introduced a new variety this season, green pumpkin - and it’s a winner! The runoff from the storm brought the catfish out. Catfish were biting in Hermit Cove too. Mackerel and dip baits were working for cats. The bass bite has been steady. We expect it to pick up even more as we move into late winter/early spring. Right now, the bass are hanging around steep edges in the lake, close to deeper water, but also close to the shallows to feed. The t-dock is a great place to fish for bass because it has both.

Conditions: The water temperature is 59 degrees. There was a little silty runoff in Hermit Cove last weekend from the storm, but it should be clear this weekend.  The water column is well oxygenated and conditions are good for trout. The days are getting longer with the sun rising at 6:44 a.m. and setting at 5:20 p.m. New Moon is February 9th.
