The early morning trout bite is strong from Bass Point to the end of Senior shoreline and all along the southern shore. They are catching trout on orange powerbait, red headed micetails, and inflated nightcrawlers. The final trout plant of the season will take place the second week of April.
Largemouth bass can be found lurking around structure. Rod Kiar of Valley Center caught and released a 9.00# bass in Boat Dock Cove using a plastic worm. The bass are chasing swimbaits, crawdads, and dark colored plastics.
Catfish can be found throughout the lake but are particularly active at either end. The first catfish plant will occur mid- May. Lake Wohlford cats prefer mackerel, shrimp, or chicken liver.
Crappie can be found at the crappie float pre-dawn. Crappie are most often caught using live golden shiners or crappie jigs.
