Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca. We open daily at 6 a.m. Shore fishing ends at 6:30 p.m. Autumn is here and fishing is very good. Lots of limits of trout coming out. The sun is warm and the air is cool. The water has cooled way down so the trout are active and jumping on the hook. We expect a load of trout from both dfg and jess ranch this coming week which should make all you anglers happy. For all you campers, we now have showers at our north shore campground. See Beckie for details.
You can still use your canoes and kayaks on the lake. Cut-off date is November 1. Remember all vessels need to be washed down before launching into the lake. Mike Strong was back this week with friend, Frank Johnston from Michigan. They both limited out using spoons at the honey hole. Bob Toolie of Descanso has been staying in the condos all weekand has been catching dinner frequently. Nice size rainbows. Lots of wildlife can be seen in the meadows in late afternoon and early am. The deer are snagging as many acorns and tender grass as they can and wild turkeys are out strutting their stuff. The resident osprey has been perching outside the restaurant waiting for a nice trout to show up. For those lucky enough to see it, there was a golden eagle competing with the osprey and they put on an incredible show of aerodynamics high in the sky.
Don't forget the free fishing class is held every Saturday at 10 AM at the Launch Ramp. The Decontamination wash down is required for all private vessels and motors before a launch. Check with staff if you have any questions. To make reservations for camping, condos or cabins, call 877-581-9904.
