Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca. We open daily at 6 a.m. Shore fishing ends at 6:45 p.m. The annual O.P. Ball Memorial "Fishin In The Pines" kids derby was a great success. Lots of kids caught nice trout, had lunch and won some great prizes. Tyler Vatale was the grand prize winner with a 1.9 trout. Other winners were Cooper Sissons, Zack Toetter, Page Jones, Chandler Corey, Randon Collins, Aden Nipper, Megan Malone, Alyssa Riccasa and Noah Ham. Fishing has been very good this week. The weather and water are perfect for fishing and the fish are cooperating. Mike Belk, Mike Strong and Jesse Richardson each limited out with 5 trout. Largest was 1 and a half pounds. They were using Secret Spoon bait. Mike Groff of Ramona caught 4 trout, largest was 7 pounds. He was fishing with a nightcrawler at Lone Pine. Ian Kadane of San Diego caught 4 trout, largest was 8 pounds using a purple Kastmaster at Heron Point.

Don't forget the free fishing class is held every Saturday at 10 AM at the Launch Ramp. The Decontamination wash down is required for all private vessels and motors before a launch. Check with staff if you have any questions. To make reservations for camping, condos or cabins, call 877-581-9904.

Observe the Milky Way and the other constellations. The Harvest Moon will also appear from the eastern sky on Thursday. The moonlight creates a lighted path across the Lake waters. As the moon rises, it gives our eyes the illusion of being larger than normal. Notables: Stu Bakin and...... Read More
