The junior waterfowl hund is Saturday, February 5th, early morning. We will open for fishing at 10 am. Starting in February, we will be open everyday.
The gusty winds have kept the fishermen away most of this week. There have been a few good limits go out but it has been so cold and windy that the anglers just want to get in the car and go home. The tackle shop is selling State licenses now and the process seems to be running smoothly. Jason Sokoff of Oceanside limited out at Lone Pine. The largest trout was 2 pounds and he also got a 3 pound catfish. He was using inflated nightcrawlers. Flea of Descanso also limited out with the largest trout being 2 pounds. He was fishing at Chambers Park. Lake Cuyamaca will be hosting 4 Junior Waterfowl hunters on Feb. 5. They are Charity Winton, 15, Buster Hoy, 11 1/2, Luke Smith, is 14, and Jordan Prater, age 12 . If the weather cooperates there should be some good hunting. Lots of ducks and geese this year.
There is a free fishing class every Saturday at 10:00 am at the Launch Ramp. Tell the ranger at the tackle shop that you want to attend. Decontamination washdown is required for all private vessels and motors before a launch. Float tubes and waders must be washed down before using the lake. There is a fee for the wash down. For further information or to make reservations for camping, condos or cabins, please call 877-581-9904.
Hours:
Monday through Friday - 8 am to 4 pm
Saturday and Sunday - 6 am to 5 pm.
