Our objective seemed simple:Get brother Chris onto his first official yellowtail. However, after several failed attempts to put a yellow on the deck I was starting to think Chris just might have a case of the dreaded "cantcatchayellowitis" and all fellow anglers know how painful that can be. No worries, sometimes all it takes is one cast to clear these problems up for good. Captain Steve Peterson and his crew aboard the Mission Belle fishing out of Pt. Loma Sportfishing have been filling their customers' prescriptions with steady doses of hot yellowtail action all month. I was confident that Captain Steve would get us on a cure for Chris's problem. A fresh school of maurading yellowtail have moved up along the coastline and inside the Coronado Islands. These yellows have been providing sporadic periods of wide open action for any of the boats finding them in an eating mood. Throw in some log barracuda, grumpy sand bass and a shot at a flatty or two and we were looking at a sure fire cure for the summertime fishing blues. We had steady action along the beach for nice baracuda and sand bass as well as a few nice hits on the yellows. We moved around chasing puddling schools of yellows and were able to put a few more nice yellows in the sacks. All in all we put 15 nice yellows, 54 barracuda, 23 sand bass and 2 nice flatties in the sacks for our days efforts.
