Lake Wohlford will remain closed on weekdays until opening day of trout season which is scheduled for December 10th.

In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

On Sunday November 6th bird enthusiast Sally Sanderson will be leading a hike beginning in the Oakvale parking lot at 8:30 a.m., rain or shine, to look at the local birds along Egret Trail and portions of the fire road. In addition on Saturday November 12th naturalist James Dillane will be leading a hike that begins at 7:30 a.m. also in the Oakvale lot discussing native plants including some impressive sized Manzanitas. If you are free, on either morning, we encourage you to come check it out, but dress appropriately, and bring water to drink.

Bass can be found near rock piles especially in the morning and late afternoons. Dark colored plastics do particularly well.

A small number of crappie are being caught primarily in the early mornings. Crappie prefer the cover of submerged trees or shady places in which to hide.
