Lake Conditions - Surface temperature is 56.4 and at 20ft 55.8. Water visibility is clearing to more than 3 feet.
** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.
Trout - It's been a spell but here come the trout. We're expecting Mount Lassen Trophy size trout sometime in the first half of next month. If you'll remember from previous years we have had some record breakers. DFG spilled a few lb's of their little guys this week but have been a bit allusive. Small treble hooks with rainbow or green powerbait worked for a few anglers.
Carp - Can be found throughout the lake rolling in the mornings and chasing down corn and meal balls during the day. Shallow end of the lake was working well.
Bass - Bass anglers have reported smaller bass roaming around the coves. Try using your favorite lure or throw out a night crawler. Horseshoe and Paradise cove has been popular spots. Catch and release, please.
Blue Gill - Red worms and meal worms are still fooling the blue gill along the shoreline, coves, and off the rock piles. A number of bluegill were caught off the rocks near Gizzer cove.
Crappie - They have been quite elusive. We're looking forward to a great spring bite.
Catfish - The whiskers have slow considerable in recent weeks. Warmer weather may bring them back.
