Lake Conditions: Surface temperature is 48.9 and at 20ft 48.1. Water visibility is clearing to more than 5 feet.
** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.
Trout: Cool water temps and high D/O (dissolved oxygen) readings are perfect conditions for the Rainbows. Green, rainbow or Corn yellow Powerbait has been the ticket along with small #16 treble-hooks, Kastmasters, light line and plain ol' night crawlers. Benjamin Mueller, Reba and Randy Minniear, Jeff Miemi, Tom Bossard, John Brenner and others were working the same hole near the dam capturing their limits with various colors of powerbait. Tim Garrett, Lydia McCammon, John and Amy Hickman were all using a powerbait/worm combo at Geezer cove. The Bertussi clan was here this week and leading the way was John with his 5 lb 4 oz rainbow. And finally this 8 lb 14 oz lunker was corralled with green powerbait in Paradise cove by Richard Rodriguez, in the above photo of El Cajon on his Birthday.
Carp: They have not been biting lately. They could be heading to the mouth of the Cottonwood creek.
Bass: No Bass reported this week.
Blue Gill: No Bluegill reported this week.
Crappie: They have been quite allusive. We're looking forward to a great spring bite.
Catfish: No Catfish was reported this week.
