In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Trout fishing will probably remain slow until the plant on the twenty fifth. Powerbait (greens and yellows), salmon eggs, and inflated nightcrawlers have been the preferred baits.

The bass spawn has still yet to produce our first double digit largemouth of the season. When conditions remain favorable the spawning often occurs in a series of waves. It appears as if we are in a lull between the end of the first wave and the beginning of the second. Bass can be found around structure and bite most often in the early mornings and late afternoons.

We have seen an increase in the number of Black Crappie being reported. Jerry Harris, Daniel Posey, and Rick Hatch each weighed in a crappie this past week. The largest of the three fish weighed 1.90#s and was caught on a Thomas Bouyant lure near Crappie Rock.
