Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: Summer is upon us!! Check out the Sturgeon in Notable. Come up and spend a day on the lake fishing, boating, camping or a picnic. Trout are more active early morning and late afternoon- evening. The Channel Catfish are continuing?? to bite with some large ones keeping things interesting.?? Crappie are really busting lose. Use a small tube jig for this fun and tasty treat.. Bullhead catfish are very aggressive??in seeking out?? your night crawler on the bottom.!?????? !!!! BULLHEAD-A-THON catch the most Bullheads for a prize!!!!
!!! We now have???? 3 NEW SLEEPING CABINS?? for rent!!! ??**call for information.**
Trout Bait:24-30 inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Power Bait,?? salmon eggs.???? (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)
Best Trout Lures: Gold/yellow-orange Panther Martins and Yellow Rooster Tails, Trolling. Use scent!?? (Krill gel works best)??
Best Trout Spots: Lone Pine, Chambers Park, West Shore line by dam buoy line.
Notable: David Howard, El Cajon, 42lbs 55inch legal STURGEON, power bait, trees by dam. Ralph Walker, San Diego, 17lbs 7oz Channel Cat, night crawler, Flats. Daniel Engels, Temecula, 11lbs 4oz Channel Cat, Night crawler, Dam. Timothy Lambert, San Diego, 9lbs 8oz Channel Cat, Mackerel, South End. Kathie Barker, El Cajon, 5lbs Rainbow, Power worm, near dock.
Fly Fishing: Emergers, Nymphs, and Elk Hair Caddis should produce something besides Crappie which will take just about anything.????
Nature Walk: The guided walk will be conducted by Clint Powell July1, 2007.The trail is open for daily use. 3 1/2 miles around the lake.
Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: Ranger Charlie?? will teach??tried and true trout techniques using?? bait, tube jigs and lures for trout.??
Prognosis:!!?? Try trolling with gold Panther Martins, Rapalas,?? and Yellow Rooster Tails for trout.??Channel Cats are looking for your bait, try Mackerel around the rock structures. Its Crappie time, use small tube jigs for a quick limit.?? Water?? surface temp 66-68 deg, Please feel free to ask our staff any questions you may have
