Lake Conditions: Surface temperature is 73.8 and 70.2 @ 20 ft. There's warmer water in the coves and shallow end of lake.
Water Clarity: Water visibility is to 3' to 5'

. ** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.

Trout: The trout are still chomping. Tom and son Tommy Bossard caught 5 nice size rainbows in Paradise cove. Like many others this week they found them up close to shore (mind the rocks) with various combinations of powerbait and nightcrawlers. Lewis and son Johnny were in the same area and nabbed several with a combo of powerbait 'eggs' and powerbait worms. Both father/son groups managed a bass or two, bluegill, and cats while casting for trout. Kristopher Ludwig won for largest with his 4 lb 6 oz'er.

Bass: The Bass have been found 'all over' according to Chris Scruggs of El Cajon. Chis used 10inch worms, Alabama jigs, watermelon senkos and jerk bait for his bass. But his best area this week was in and around Cabin cove. Sean Walker from San Diego caught and released lots of everything in the same area. He worked for 7 bass using spinners and when he tired of that he hung a worm or twelve and nailed 8 cats, 2 trout and 6 bluegill.

Catfish: The catfish bite was no mere nibble for many an angler this week. Two to five pound whiskers were caught in every corner of the lake. Steve Greifzu, pictured above from Campo fooled a couple of nice size cats.

Blue Gill: The bluegill anglers did well this week but as you've read they were generally caught inadvertently while casting for the other species in the lake.

Crappie: The slow-trollers through the middle of the lake have come up with a few crappie. Paying attention to your line will help keep it from fouling your propeller.

Carp: These fish continue to surprise the folks rigged for cats or bass with their amazing strength and tenacity. And they know the way to brush. Great fun.
