. ** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.
Trout: The trout are still biting. The aerator and Pumphouse cove are the predominate spots on the lake. Another spot is at the buoy line on the right side about two buoys out from shore. Sunshine and August Wheelock from San Diego caught their limits with peach powerbait in paradise cove. Grandpa was very proud.
Bass: The Bass have been found hiding in the brush. Joel Hazard from Cardiff caught and released 10 bass with a watermelon senko scouting the lake rim.
Catfish: Catfish this week have been plentiful. William Purefoy and family from San Bernardino hauled in several nice cats one a 3 lber with hunks of mackerel. Steve Greifzu from Campo had quite a day with a limit of cats, 5 bass and 2 trout. Steve was using night crawlers near the dam.
Blue Gill: The blue gill anglers must have taken this week off. None reported.
Crappie: The mystery of the missing crappie continues. They've retreated away from the shore to the middle of the lake. A slow troll can enhance your chances.
Carp: These overgrown gold fish continue to surprise the folks rigged for cats or bass with their amazing strength and tenacity. Great fun.
