Park Hours: 6:00 A.M. - 7:30 P.M. Open seven days a week.
Dock Closes: 7:00 P.M.
Last Plant: 1,000 lbs of Channel Catfish Friday July 27th.
Next Plant: 1,000 lbs of Channel Catfish Friday August 10th.
Water Temperature: At surface 78.08 f., 7.90 D.O. @ 15' 78.44 f., 7.61 D.O.
Water Level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
The Catfish plant yesterday went well and had an almost immediate affect along Senior Shoreline. The last plant is scheduled for August 10th. The Catfish respond well to chicken liver or cut mackerel. Stop by the ranger station for a dough bait recipe that works great on both Catfish and Carp.
Small to medium sized Bass are being caught, but not in great numbers. Dark colored plastics and shad raps are probably good choices given the current conditions. The Bass can be found mostly structure and bite best in the early mornings and late afternoons.
The Crappie are being caught predominately in the first couple of hours after we open. Crappie prefer the cover of submerged trees and rocks in which to hide. Live golden shiners and finger jigs are the most effective baits.
