The arrival of warmer water conditions has signaled the start of better surface fishing for Yellowtail, Barracuda and Calico bass. Time to have that fly-line bait rig at the ready along with your jig rod.
The 3/4 day boats at the Coronado Islands had a good shot at those bigger yellowtail with both the San Diego and Voyager having 15 and 14 Yellowtail respectively along with some Barracuda and Calico Bass each.
On the local scene, the 1/2 day boat New Seaforth is catching quite a few Calico Bass along with some rockfish. The Yellowtail seem to be showing up daily but are refusing to eat jigs at this time. A few were hooked on the fly-lined sardine today but managed to escape. Hopefully better luck for all tomorrow!

The Yellowtail have had several days with little to no pressure, so hopefully they are ready to bite. ...... Read More
The New Seaforth's 3/4 day trip to the Coronado Islands landed 12 Yellowtail out of approximately 40 hooked. Most fish were hooked on fly-lined sardines. Good line and drags are a must as most of these fish are 20-25 pounds. Fluorocarbon leader is highly suggested. Friday's 3/4 day trip has plenty of room and departs at 5:30am. Half day trips for Friday depart at 6am and 12:30pm. Twilight fishing departs at 6pm. Friday evening we have 1.5 day trips departing aboard the...... Read More
