Lake Conditions Surface temperature is 64.8 and 64.6 @ 20ft. A few degrees warmer in the north end. The water visibility is at about 2' to 3'.
** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in the Lake Morena area so be sure you acquire one before you arrive. The State Licenses is required.
Trout Nothing new except the weather keeping anglers way in droves. But the buoy line and up through Paradise cove continues to shine as the go-to area for the Rainbows. Of course Geezer cove was still a hot spot along with areas around Cabin cove. And just trolling trough the deeper middle near the buoy line was providing results. Green-sparkle Powerbait, Garlic Powerbait, Nightcrawlers, Rapalas-regular and small, Kastmasters were your best bet. Nancy Greene, Alpine fooled a stringer of 12lbs with the largest being 6lbs 12oz. She must have a secret spot.
Bass Bass in numbers and size have improved large this week. John Knoebel says he was shaking after working to keep then release his first double digit Large-mouth. There was ten pounds of happiness for John. Brain Fansher, Campo, was here again this week bringing up and letting go smaller sizes in various locals with Senko. Down near the Dam Mike Fallon, Santee got a hold of an 8lb 5ozer with a T-rig. A bass Club was here last weekend and had good showings with the three top weights of First 8.2, Second 7.8 and Third 6.4. Well done Gentlemen.
Catfish The cats are on the prowl. Cabin cove has really been a fine spot for a most of our species, especially cats. Verbal reports came in about some Blue cats and Channel cats being wrangled from the warmer waters of Cabin cove.
Blue Gill No Pan fish were reported this week.
Crappie The crappies have moved away from shore and have been found in the deeper waters near the Dam.
Carp These fish are being caught on a more regular basis while anglers are looking for meatier fair.
