Lake Conditions Surface temperature is 58 degrees. A few degrees warmer in the north end. The water visibility is at about 2' to 3'.

** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in the Lake Morena area so be sure you acquire one before you arrive. The State Licenses is required.

Trout Nothing reported this week, as most anglers were preoccupied with the great Bass bite. Bass - The Large-Mouth have captivated anglers all week. Josh Anderson, Coronado, was throwing a Texas Rig' plastics in Cabin cove when he pulled in a 17 inches. Ricky and Jessie Arnold, pictured above caught Bass in both Horseshoe and Paradise coves with Nightcrawlers. Dan Price and friend Scott McLaughlin, San Diego, both caught and released a 28lb limits each in Horseshoe cove with Jigs and Crankbait. Brian Scott, Campo, was picking them up and laying 'em down with crankbait all around the lake. He figured he amassed 37 lbs with his five best. We saved the best for last. Allison Bush from San Marcos cranked in a 9lb 6oz beauty near the Dam. She seemed to be shaking as we got her report and weight. Allison was shaking, not the bass that is.

Catfish The Catfish have been doing very well this week with Blues and Channel being reported. Buzz and son, Keith Brewer, from Escondido fooled two limits of the whiskers with a few catch and release Bass plying nightcrawlers for bait. Rob Swigart, La Mesa, limited using chicken livers at Geezer cove. His largest was a 3 lb 2 ozer.

Blue Gill The 'Gills are back. Geezer cove seems to be teaming with them. Anh Whitney, Santee, clobbered more than a handful of the morsels along with one 2lb Cat using Nightcrawlers. Others were seen but not reported.

Crappie The Crappies have moved away from shore and have been found in the deeper waters near the Dam.

Carp These fish are being caught on a more regular basis while anglers are looking for meatier fair.
