Park hours: 6:00 A.M. - 5:30 P.M. Open seven days a week (closed x-mas)
Dock closes: 5:00 P.M.
Last Plant: 1,500 lbs. of Rainbow Trout Wednesday, Jan 15th.
Next Plant: 1,500 lbs. of Rainbow Trout Wednesday January 29th.
Water temperature: At surface 56.30 f., 8.23 D.O. @ 10' 56.48 f., 7.91 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. Half day bass boats are available weekdays for 35$ each.
The trout fishing is good and only stands to get better with Wednesday's plant. Salmon eggs, powerbait, and inflated nightcrawlers have been the best baits.
The bass spurred on by warmer than average seasonal temperatures and the promise of an early spring are showing signs they are preparing to spawn. Bass can be found lurking around rocky outcroppings. The bass respond best to crawdads, swimbaits, or dark colored plastics.
Crappie prefer the cover of submerged rocks or willows, and love to hide under docks, or in other shady places. They are most often lured out by mini-jigs or live golden shiners.
Each month Whopper Contest winners in four categories are awarded a free fishing and boating permit. For information on the contest or fishing conditions, please contact the Ranger Station at (760) 839-4346.
