To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Catfish are being caught throughout the lake. Lake Wohlford cats respond well to cut mackerel or chicken liver. Drop by the ranger station for a dough-bait recipe that works well on both catfish and carp.

Crappie are biting mostly in the early morning hours. Crappie prefer the cover of rocks or submerged willows and are most often caught using finger jigs or live golden shiners.

The bass fishing has been steadily improving. Bass can be found lurking around structure. Shad raps, crawdads, and dark colored plastics are some of the best baits for catching bass.
