Dixon Lake's trout fishing season is just around the corner...however HOT and HUMID days and cool evening hours are still here to a soak a line for the whisker fish. Early AM hours are sometime works for the morning catfish bite. Best baits have been cut mackerel, squid, chicken livers and especially shrimp.
Fishing conditions are changing as the season changes with this being the slower time of year. You still the chance for catching the occasional bass or bluegill. Try the weedy sections off the piers or shoreline for the bluegill. Best baits have been red worms or meal worms.
The last stock for the catfish season was on Aug 14th with 1000 pounds. The last night of night fishing was Friday August 29th. We will be stocking rainbow trout as the bids for a 2 year contract are coming in this year for our upcoming 2014/15 trout season. The 1st plant of trout usually happens near the end of October or first part of November. Trout derby is tentatively scheduled for Veteran's Day weekend November 8th-11th 2014. It's never too early for stocking up on trout supplies for another expected banner year fishing for rainbow trout.
For further fishing regulations, park rules, trout derby and future trout stocking schedules please call the Dixon Lake Ranger Station at 760-839-4680 or visit http://www.dixonlake.com

All other park rules, fishing regulations and City of Escondido municipal codes will remain in effect.
