Park hours: 6:00 AM -5:00 PM (daily) Dock closes: 4:00 PM (Boats called in @ 4 PM) Last Plant: Wednesday December 10, 1,500 lbs. Next Plant: Wednesday, December 24, 1,500 lbs. Water Temperature: 68 degrees Water Level: High Trout fishing at Dixon Lake remains steady after an incredibly busy and action-filled couple of weeks. The recent stock of 1,500 lbs. continues to bring regular fisherman out daily. Typically, most anglers do not leave empty handed, even after a short day of fishing. Jack Creek Cove remains the top hot spot for trout, with Whisker Bay placing right behind it. Trout Cove still sees occasional action, but has surprisingly been slower than in recent years. Pier 1 remains a great spot for the early morning bite. Spinners are a top-seller at the concession stand this week, while night crawlers remain everyone's reliable bait. Other noteworthy baits include: Rainbow Power Bait, White mouse tail PowerWorms, and green jigs.

Large trout have continued to show themselves this week. Mark Boyd brought in a 6 lb. 12 oz. trout off an orange PowerWorm in Whisker Bay on 12/10, followed by an impressive 9 lb. 10 oz. trout caught by Jimmy Chen of San Marcos, who used yellow PowerBait the following day.

Occasional large catfish and small to medium bass continue to make appearances.

This coming week, Dixon Lake will forego its bye week, skipping a stock on the 17th. A December 24th stock of 1,500 lbs. is scheduled, if weather and road conditions permit.

In observance of the holiday and to also grant Dixon Lake staff time to spend with their families, Dixon Lake will remain closed from the evening of December 24th, to the morning of December 26th. Fishing and other recreation will resume at opening time on the 26th. (6 a.m.) Traditionally, this is the only day of the year that the park closes.

Dixon Lake staff sends warm regards for happy holidays to the supportive public.

For more information on park rules, future trout stocking schedule, and other information, please call the Dixon Lake Ranger station at 760-839-4680, or visit http://www.dixonlake.com

At the present time, Dixon Lake no longer requires a California fishing license from the Dept. of Fish & Game. Dixon Lake has been granted an Aquaculture Permit. All anglers 8 yrs. and older will need a daily fishing lake permit. A second rod permit can be purchased at the concession stand for a $2.00 fee. All other park rules, fishing regulations and City of Escondido municipal codes will remain in effect.
