Trout fishing at Dixon Lake is back to its normal high speed.

The January 14 stock of 1, 500 lbs. has brought out multiple limits, typically in the early morning or late afternoon hours.

Pier 1, Whisker Bay, and Jack Creek cove still remain consistent fishing spots. Trout Cove has picked up speed for the first time this season.

Jigs have gained popularity as effective bait, as many fishermen have been reporting catching limits on either white or green crappie jigs. Nightcrawlers, PowerWorms of different varieties, and PowerBait also remain effective.

Noteworthy stringers of 5 were caught this week by: Michael Wolfe of El Cajon using a green mini jig in Whisker Bay, Tristin Harrison of Rancho Cucamonga using a white PowerWorm near the buoy line, and Carlos Ibenez of Torrance, CA using a green jig in Whisker Bay.

Occasional large catfish and small to medium bass continue to make appearances.

Dixon Lake staff encourages anglers who qualify to take advantage of "Senior/Military Wednesdays." Senior citizens 60 and older and military personnel are eligible to purchase $18 all day motor boats, and $12 all day row boats every Wednesday.

At the present time, Dixon Lake no longer requires a California fishing license from the Dept. of Fish & Game. Dixon Lake has been granted an Aquaculture Permit. All anglers 8 yrs. and older will need a daily fishing lake permit. A second rod permit can be purchased at the concession stand for a $2.00 fee. All other park rules, fishing regulations and City of Escondido municipal codes will remain in effect.
