Park hours: 6:00 A.M. - 5:30 P.M. Open seven days a week.
Dock closes: 5:00 P.M.
Last Plant: 1,500 lbs of Rainbow Trout Wednesday February 25th .
Next Plant: 1,500 lbs of Rainbow Trout Wednesday March 11th.
Water temperature: At surface 62.42 f., 7.04 D.O. @ 10' 62.42 f., 6.18 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and Thursdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
The trout fishing has been spotty with the action gradually moving westward toward deeper water. The effects of the weekends rains remain to be seen. The largest trout of the past week belonged to Linda Gibbons of Valley Center and weighed 10.70#s. It was caught on a nightcrawler in Boat Dock Cove.
Crappie are being caught in small numbers at various locations throughout the lake. The largest so far belongs to Paul Eddo of Escondido and weighed 2.45#s. Crappie prefer the cover of shade and are most often caught on mini-jigs or live golden shiners.
The bass bite has improved considerably. The bass are in pre-spawn mode with the smaller males preparing their nests. The largest bass of the past week belonged to Mike Pittman of Vista and weighed 6.70#s it was caught and released in Boat Dock Cove where it struck a powerworm. The bass are most likely to hit on crawdads or dark colored plastics
