Last Plant: 1,000 lbs of Channel Catfish Friday July 31st.
Next Plant: Trout beginning Saturday December 12th.
Water temperature: At surface 69.80 f., 4.40 D.O. @ 10’ 69.98 f., 4.31 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motor boats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The lake is closed for weekday fishing. We will remain open on weekends only until Saturday December 12th and the first trout plant.
The bass bite has been lively with mostly small to medium sized bass being reported. Largemouth bass can be found around structure or lurking near the tulles feasting on bait fish and frogs. They are hitting on crawdads, crank bait, or dark colored plastics.
Crappie can still be found in small numbers in the early morning hours. Crappie prefer the cover of shade and are most often caught using live golden shiners or crappie jigs. Bluegill have been plentiful and biting from shore.
Catfish continue to be caught throughout the lake. The top baits have been cut mackerel or chicken liver. Stop by the ranger station to pick up a dough-bait recipe that is excellent for catfish.
