Last Plant: 1,000 lbs of Channel Catfish Friday July 31st.
Next Plant: 6,000 lbs of rainbow trout Saturday December 12th.
Water temperature: At surface 66.02 f., 4.47 D.O. @ 10’ 66.20 f., 4.28 D.O.
Water level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
To protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motor boats to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month. The lake is closed for weekday fishing. We will remain open on weekends only until Saturday December 12th and the first trout plant.
The upcoming trout season promises to be one of the best yet with a robust slate of scheduled plants. There are six consecutive weekly plants to start the season 10,000+ lbs. in December alone, including the initial 6,000 lbs., and a double plant the first week of January. All those plants should result in our modestly sized lake being completely saturated with rainbow trout this winter making Wohlford the trout destination for the discerning angler.
The bass bite has been lively with mostly small to medium sized bass being reported. Largemouth bass can be found around structure or lurking near the tulles feasting on bait fish and frogs. They are hitting on crawdads, crank bait, or dark colored plastics.
