Hello from Lake Jennings! The bass bite has improved. Dropping water
level has the bass prey on the move. Jigs and Ikas fished on the bank are very
productive. Most are in the 1 to 4 lb. range. Cats continue to bite deep. Some
limits came from 125 ft of water.
Best Trout Spots: None
Best Trout Lures/Bait: None
Best Catfish Spots: Both the dam and the Hermit Cove buoy lines.
Best Catfish Bait: Mackerel. Use scent liberally.
Best Bass Spots: Dawn and dusk tight on the bank.
Best Bass Lures/Bait: Ikas, jigs in crawdad colors. # 13 Rapalas & Pop R's.
Notables: No fish over 3 lbs. reported.
Prognosis: The cool days have dropped the water temp a couple of degrees. This will keep the bass bite improving but the full moon will keep the bite concentrated at dusk and dawn. Open on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This week it is 6 AM until 7:45 PM. We will stock catfish one last time for the season this week on September 18th. Prime times for both cats and bass are 6 to 9 AM and 5 to 7:45 PM. The first trout plant will be October 22nd.
Water Temperature: 79-80 degrees.
Current Schedule: We will be open Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. ??? 7:45 p.m.
FREE Fishing Classes Open to the Public!
Lake Jennings Fishing University will hold a fishing class this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. The classes concentrate on what is working best. This week's class will talk about fishing cats. Most importantly, the classes are FREE! Ranger Hugh will be the professor.
