Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: The Orville P. Ball Memorial " FISHING IN THE PINES" FREE KIDS DERBY will be September 27, here at Lake Cuyamaca. Prizes, Raffle, Food and fun for the FAMILY !! This is our 10th year so mark your calendar !!!!

Crappie are still providing the most consistent action this week. With the stocking of Channel Catfish we are seeing some good steady action. The bullhead are relentless in finding your worm, plus a few trout taking bait to round out the stringers

We are now taking reservations for the new RV group camp located in the Over flow area. The area is set up for a total of 8 rigs but has a minimum of 4. The rate is $200.00 a night for all 8 sites. Can be rented by singles if not reserved. !!!! Also added 7 tent sites in the Lone Pine area !!! Call 877-581-9904 for info..

OPEN EVERY DAY 6AM---
SUNSET

Trout Bait: 20-24"inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Rainbow Power Bait is still their favorite. (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)

Best Trout Lures: Kastmaster, Yellow/Orange Panther Martins. Use scent (Krill gel works best)

Best Trout Spots: Lone Pine, Dam shore lines, Trolling center of lake.

Notable: "Jimmy", San Diego, 20 lbs Channel Catfish, Mackerel, Dam. ( lots of Crappie Limits)

Fly Fishing: The Crappie are taking almost any offering! Can not resist #10 Flash Muddler.

Nature Walk: The self guided walk is 3 1/2 miles around the lake. The trail is open for daily use.

Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: Ranger Willard will teach tried and true trout tactics, using Baits, Tube Jigs, and Lures along with Mini Jigs for Crappie, plus Night Crawlers for Bullheads.

Prognosis:!! The stocking of Channel Cats up to 10 lbs should provide some action while soaking mackerel. The LIMIT style action for CRAPPIE will continue to be wide open. Use a small glow in the dark jig( 1/64 or 1/32 oz) for this small and tasty treat. Bullhead catfish looking for a worm on the bottom. Trout (slowly) taking offerings of dough baits and night crawlers using scent. Bring up the whole family to experience a wonderful time.

THE DECONTAMINATION WASH DOWN IS NOW OPERATIONAL PRIVATE VESSELS ALLOWED AFTER WASH DOWN! A fee is charged. (boats, motors, kayaks, canoes, float tubs, waders) More details under boat wash down.

Johnny Rodriques landed a 11?? pound trout (June 2, 2008) on rainbow power bait Pumphouse Cove (picture posted View Picture here
