Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: Trout Season is here!! With the weather cooling as the fall season arrives STOCKING of trout from Jess Ranch has begin. These trout are outstanding in quality and attitude for the fight. Anglers experienced more trout action this week trolling, and with bait. The Channel Cats continue to be in the rock structures. Crappie looking for a mini jig drifted, or below a bobber.
We are now taking reservations for the new RV group camp located in the Over flow area. The area is set up for a total of 8 rigs but has a minimum of 4. The rate is $200.00 a night for all 8 sites. Can be rented by singles if not reserved. !!!! Also added 7 tent sites in the Lone Pine area !!! Call 877-581-9904 for info..
OPEN EVERY DAY 6AM--- SUNSET
Trout Bait: 20-24"inch leader, night crawler smeared with scent fished below a bobber, or Rainbow Power Bait fished off the bottom. (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)
Best Trout Lures: Orange Rapala, Orange Roster Tail, Use scent (Krill gel works best)
Best Trout Spots: Lone Pine, Shore line below call box, Kitchen Cove,Trolling center of lake.
Notable: Ken Nelson, San Diego, 9lbs 8oz Channel Cat, marshmallow/worm combo, West Finger Jetty. (lots of 1lbs trout)
Fly Fishing: Some surface action. Try a Matuka or a Wolly Bugger worked slow on the fall.
Nature Walk: The self guided walk is 3 1/2 miles around the lake. The trail is open for daily use.
Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: Ranger Willard will teach tried and true Trout tactics, along with Crappie and
Catfish. Prognosis:!! Trout action is improving with cooling water temps. Trolling all over. Dunking bait should produce some fine trout along the North shore line, Lone Pine and below the Call box. Crappie and Bullheads are as aggressive as always. Channel Cats around the rock structures. Come up and experience natures fall colors while enjoying a day at the lake.
THE DECONTAMINATION WASH DOWN IS NOW OPERATIONAL PRIVATE VESSELS ALLOWED AFTER WASH DOWN! A fee is charged. (boats, motors, float tubs, waders) More details under boat wash down.
