Dixon Lake trout season is in the "BIG" swing this month. Large trout from the last stocks are still being taken in the Whisker Bay and Trout Cove areas. It isn't limit-style fishing since the last stocks, but the quality of trout being kicked out of Dixon is in the 5 to 7-pound range with the "average sized" trout in the 3 to 4-pound range with the smaller trout in the 2-pound class mixed into the bag.

The "lunker of the week" goes to Miguel Torres of Escondido, who caught a beautiful 7-pound trout on a night crawler in Catfish Cove. Other big fish include Forest Bradford of Oceanside, who fooled a 6 lb. 6 oz. trout on Rainbow color power bait in Trout Cove; and Don Hickman, also from Oceanside, who caught a 5 lb. 2 oz. trout on Rainbow color power bait.

Dixon Lake's next stock will be on December 10, with 1500 pounds of trout from Chaulk Mound Trout Ranch. The hatchery is located in Bridgeport, Nebraska, home of the "Tail walkers." Best choices of baits have been Rainbow color Power bait, small green Crappie jigs, Kastmaster and Thomas Buoyant lures.

The last stock for Dixon this year (2008) will be a DOUBLE STOCK with 3000 pounds of holiday trout on December 23. The bass and catfish action has slowed down to almost nothing this past week. Bass anglers have been successful with plastics from Boat Dock Cove and Whisker Bay areas. Pier #2 remains closed due to construction until further notice.
