Dixon Lake trout fishing has been good the last several weeks with fish in the 2 to 4-pound range. Local angler Richard Henderson of Encinitas had the most recent limit (5 fish) of "Tailwalkers," totaling 18 lbs. 4 oz. His best of the day weighed in at 4 lbs. 8 oz., caught on Power Bait in the Whisker Bay area. Most of the action still has been in the Whisker Bay and Trout Cove areas.

Dixon Lake's next stocks will be on February 5 and February 18, with 1500 pounds of trout from Chaulk Mound Trout Ranch. The hatchery is located in Bridgeport, Nebraska, home of the "Tailwalkers." Best choices of baits have been inflated nightcrawlers, Rainbow color Power bait, small green Crappie jigs, Kastmaster and Thomas Buoyant lures. The bass and catfish action has slowed down to almost nothing this past week. Pier #2 remains closed due to construction until further notice.

As of February 2, 2009, a price increase will change ALL existing prices for fishing, boating, permits, picnic shelters and camping sites here at Dixon Lake. New prices for fishing permits will be $7 for adults (16 yrs and older) and $5 for both youths (8-15 yrs) and seniors (60+ yrs). Boat rental will be $35 for motorboats (all day) and half-day motorboats for $30. Rowboats will be $17 all day and $14 for a half day.
