Dixon Lake trout fishing has been good to excellent the last week with a lot of fish in the 2-4 pound range. Most or all of the trout action has been in the Whisker Bay and Buoy Line areas.

Dixon Lake's next stocks will be on March 18 and April 1, with 1500 pounds of trout from Chaulk Mound Trout Ranch. The hatchery is located in Bridgeport, Nebraska, home of the "Tail walkers." Best choices of baits have been inflated nightcrawlers, white or red Power worms, small green Crappie jigs, Kastmaster and Rooster Tails lures. The bass action is just starting to get into the action. Some of the smaller males are moving up into the15-20 foot depth range?Ķwhile the females are still in deeper waters. Brian Goldey of Encinitas let the whole lake know about his catch of a lifetime. While fishing an 8-inch Huddleston lure outside of Boat Dock Cove, he nailed a 10 lb even Largemouth Bass. He stated he has fished here a 100 times plus and this is his first 10 pounder out of Dixon. The next few weeks with warmer water temps, the spawn should be in prime condition. Who knows?Ķmaybe one of "Dottie's" sisters may show up this year??

Catfish action was surprisingly slow with the recent storms. That kind of weather usually turns the bite on in the Jack Creek area. Pier #2 remains closed due to construction until further notice.
