This past week has seen a lot fo change in the behavior of Lake Murray’s resident bass. Many of the bass that were being caught deeper using jigs, spoons and blade baits have now moved into shallower water preparing to stage for pre-spawn. But there are still anglers who are going quite well out deep in about 45-50’ deep using Flat jigs/ice jigs, blade baits, axe blades, and spoons. Crank baits and square bills have been effective as well, running the over points and structure. Using finesse baits like drop-shot, ned-rigs, finesse jigs, and dark sleepers around the tulles is another really good way to get hooked up! Crappie and bluegill fishing has dropped off a little form last week bit is still pretty good. Most crappie have been caught on crappie shiners or small jigs with a 2-3” leader and a bubble/bobber. Trout were last stocked on December 16th and are mainly being caught on Powerbait or small spoons.
