Dixon Lake trout fishing has been good to excellent the last week with a lot of fish in the 2 to 4-pound range. Most or all of the trout action has been in the Whisker Bay and Buoy Line areas. Only a few trout have been caught in the usually hot spot Trout Cove area. Some anglers are reporting good action in the Catfish Cove area on Salmon eggs or night crawlers.

Dixon Lake's next stocks will be on April 8, with 1500 pounds of trout from Chaulk Mound Trout Ranch. The hatchery is located in Bridgeport, Nebraska, home of the "Tail walkers." The week of April 13???17 will be a skip week for stocking. Best choices of baits have been inflated night crawlers, white or red Power worms, small green Crappie jigs, Kastmaster and Rooster Tails lures.

The bass action is heating up with some of the smaller males moving up into the shallow waters and showing signs of hanging around their spawning nests, while the bigger females are still in deeper waters. There are still no signs of big females making their presence known around the lake, with the exception of the 10-pounder caught several weeks ago. The next few weeks with warmer water temperatures, the spawn should be in prime condition. Who knows . . . maybe one of "Dottie's" sisters may show up this year??

Catfish action has been slow the last couple of weeks with no cats to report. Try using cut mackerel in the deeper parts of the lake. Until further notice, Pier #2 remains closed due to construction.
