Dixon Lake trout fishing has been wide open with many limits taken near the Buoy line and Whisker Bay areas. Most of the rainbows are running in the 2-4 pound range. Only a few trout have been caught in the usually hot spot Trout Cove area. Some anglers are reporting good action in the Catfish Cove area on Salmon eggs or nightcrawlers. Pier #2 is now open to all park visitors with newly installed ADA ramp, safety railings and a new deck.

Dixon Lake's last stock of the year will be on May 6, with 1500 pounds of trout from Chaulk Mound Trout Ranch. Best choices of baits have been inflated nightcrawlers, white or red Power worms, yellow Power Bait, small green Crappie jigs, Kastmaster and Rooster Tails lures.

The bass action is still heating up with the smaller males moving up into the shallow waters and showing signs of hanging around their spawning nests, while the bigger females are still in deeper waters. There are still no signs of big females making their presence known around the lake, with the exception of a report that a 10-12 lb bass was caught last week in Trout Cove.

The 12th Annual Hidden Valley Kiwanis Club Trout Derby was a huge success over the two day event. The $500 grand prize winner was Jose Gurrola who caught a nice 7.49 lb. rainbow trout on gold Kastmaster near Pier #2. All other trout weighed in during the derby were in the 4-5 pound average.
