Night fishing has officially started on July 2. Night fishing nights will ONLY be held on Thursday and Friday nights until mid August with shoreline fishing until 11:45 PM. Night boats can be rented starting at 5 PM and have to return to the boat dock by 10:45 PM. Motorboats with trolling motors cost $20 and row boats can be rented for $14. There will be a limited amount of shoreline to fish after the park hour's close. Most cats are in the 2 pound range with some up to 6 pounds. Best baits have been cut mackerel, sardines, chicken livers and shrimp. Dixon will be stocked again on July 29, with another 1000 pounds of Catfish. The week of July 20-24 will be a skip week for stocking.
The bass action has slowed down to almost nothing the past few weeks for bass anglers. Pier #3 seems to be holding some bass up to 3-4 pounds while using nightcrawlers. No big bass to report this week.
The Bluegill action has been improving each week. Try fishing off the piers or near the shallow weedy areas of the lake. Several anglers have reported Bluegills weighing in up 1 pound. Best baits have been small nightcrawlers or meal worms. Pier #1 in the Boat Dock Cove area seems to be the most productive for the Bluegills.
Pier #2 is now open to all park visitors with newly installed ADA ramp, safety railings and a new deck.
