Greetings from Lake Cuyamaca: We will be STOCKING again this week!!! Mt. Lassen will bring 1,200 lbs of?? there finest trout. The weather has the fish back on the bite. Anglers this past week have enjoyed limit style action, with mixed size stringers of trout. Bait has produced the most limits, some very quickly. Come on up and get in on the action!! Trolling is picking up with Rooster Tails and Panther Martins providing the best results. The Crappie are making a strong showing around the docks and shorelines. Bullhead catfish are very aggressive??in seeking out?? your night crawler on the bottom.??(??4) four?? "Tagged?? Alpers Trout" are still eluding anglers. Catching a tagged trout will reward the angler with Motor Boat Rental and 4 fishing permits for(1) one day!!!??
Trout Bait: 18-24 inch leader off the bottom inflated night crawler smeared with scent, Power Bait,?? salmon eggs.???? (Pautzkes Krill gel or liquid Krill scent)
Best Trout Lures: Gold Panther Martins and Rooster Tails. Use scent!?? (Krill gel works best)
Best Trout Spots: Lone Pine, Chambers Park, Tee Dock.
Notable: Travis Furman, Calexico, 4lbs 8oz Rainbow, Power bait, Chambers Park. Darrell Anderson, Chula Vista, 4lbs Rainbow, Power bait, Lone Pine. Scott Brandt, San Diego, 3lbs 8oz Rainbow, Power bait, Kitchen Cove. Chris Brinkley, Lake Cuyamaca, 3lbs 8oz & 3lbs Rainbow, Power bait, Kitchen Cove. Austin Hurst (age 9), Lakeside, 3lbs Rainbow, Power bait/ worm combo, South End. Jim Harris, El Cajon, 5 trout (20 minute limit), Yo Zuri, Trolling center of Lake.( limits in 1 hour )??
Fly Fishing: Try a?? Black Wooly Bugger, Olive Matuka, Egg Sucking Leach, slow retrieve.??Bluegill and Crappie taking emergers in shallow water of the south end.
Nature Walk: The guided walk will be conducted by Clint Powell May 6, 2007.The trail is open for daily use. 3 1/2 miles around the lake.
Free Fishing Class Saturday at 10:AM: ?? Ranger Willard?? will teach??tried and true trout techniques using?? bait, tube jigs and lures for trout.
Prognosis:!! The stocking from Mt. Lassen will increase your angling pleasure. With warming weather the bite will remain wide open. The catching of trout, crappie and bullheads will provide plenty of action for anglers of all ages. With the?? (huge inventory) of trout its time to come up and catch your limit. Try trolling with gold Panther Martins, Rapalas,?? and Rooster Tails.?? Water?? surface temp 56-60 deg. Please feel free to ask our staff any questions you may have. ??Golden State Fly casters will present First Cast a beginners Fly Fishing Class for youth?? on May 12, here at the lake.
