MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM LAKE CUYAMACA

Our hours have changed. In December and January the Lake has waterfowl hunting every Wednesday, all day and on Sunday morning. That means we are closed all day on Wednesdays and do not open for fishing on Sundays until 10:00 am. The tackle shop opens at 8 am weekdays and at 6:00 am on Saturday.

On Sunday 7 ducks were taken, 5 ruddy, 1 canvasback, and 1 buffle head. There are still some slots available. The price is $75.00 for a one day hunt. If you are interested, please call the District Office at 619-447-8123. Ask for Georgia.

We had a little rain and snow/sleet on Tuesday. It is sunny, with no wind but still cool today. The trout are still biting all over the lake.

Notables:

John Mitchell caught 2 trout, the largest 5.4 pounds on peach power bait at the floating dock.
Billy Summers and Robert Sandburg of Oceanside, caught 5 trout, the largest at 5.2 pounds on night crawlers at Lone Pine.
Andy Woerner of Santee caught 5 trout,the largest 4 1/4 pounds on power bait at the Dike.
Jack Luzzi, 3 years old and Ed Luzzi of La Mesa caught 4 trout, the largest 4 pounds on night crawler and green power bait at Lone Pine.
Rob Nelson of Valley Center caught 5 trout with a total weight of 24.2 pounds, the largest at 6.1 pounds on a night crawler at Lone Pine.
Mark Fry caught 3 trout weighing a total of 9 pounds, the largest 4 1/2 pounds on power bait near the call box.
Amanda Abbott, age 10 of Ramona caught a 5 pound trout on Chartreuse power bait and corn scent at Chambers Park.
Don Deatt of Descanso caught 5 trout, the largest at 6 pounds on European night crawler at Chambers Park.
Mark Hedderson of LaMesa caught 5 trout, the largest weighing 5 pounds on a Wooley Buger and orange power worm at Lone Pine.
Gary Motibe of Descanso caught 2 trout, the largest at 5 1/2 pounds on red power bait and night crawler in corn dip at Chambers Park.
Tori and Tom Walton of Temecula caught 4 trout, the largest weighing 5 pounds on rainbow power bait, in a boat near the Willows.


The Free fishing class is held every Saturday at the launch ramp. Meet Ranger Charlie at 10:00 am.

The decontamination wash down is required for all private vessels before a launch. Float tubes and waders must be washed down before using in the Lake. There is a fee for the wash down.
