In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

The trout fishing has been outstanding this past week and many limits are being reported. Jesus Treto had the biggest trout of the week at 9.40#s caught on rainbow powerbait on Senior Shoreline. A close second was James Teague's 9.00# which was part of a limit he recorded by mid-morning, Friday, on powerworms in Boat Dock Cove. Thursday, Jim Stevenson of Escondido weighed in a 13.70# stringer of five (biggest weighed 5.00#) taken in Boat Dock Cove on a combination of chartreuse powerbait and nightcrawlers. Last Saturday, Mark Zimmer and Mark Allen, also from Escondido, combined for a stringer of five weighing 13.35# caught in Willow Cove on inflated nightcrawlers. Finally, Bob Walker of Escondido weighed in a 5.75# Trout caught on Senior Shoreline on an orange powerworm and rainbow powerbait. The best fishing has been in the coves and rainbow and chunk cheese powerbaits along with inflated nightcrawlers have been the preferred baits.

We are still waiting on the bass to start biting in earnest. Bass can be found around structure and bite in the early mornings and late afternoons.
