In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

The trout fishing remains good. Don Sansome of La Mesa had the biggest trout of the week at 9.35#s caught on green powerbait at the West Buoy Line. Sam Eisenbraun had another big trout weighing 7.45#s caught on a green powerworm in Oakvale Cove. Rain over the weekend could put a damper on the fishing early in the week, but should rebound after the plant. Wednesdays stock is the first of two consecutive 1,500# plants the second coming Feb. 1st. If the weather co-operates fishing in early February should be excellent. Powerbaits & powerworms (greens and yellows) along with inflated nightcrawlers have been the preferred baits.

A medium sized bass weighing 4.65#s was caught on Saturday at the South Shore Rock Pile by Greg Eddy of Escondido on a Rapala lure. The big bass still haven't moved in closer to shore. Bass can be found around structure and bite in the early mornings and late afternoons.
