In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.

Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.

Paul Gutierrez of Murrieta had the largest trout of the past week at 11.20#s caught in Oakvale Cove on rainbow powerbait. In addition, Jeff Check of San Marcos caught a 5.70# trout on a nightcrawler in Boat Dock Cove. Powerbaits & powerworms (greens and yellows) along with inflated nightcrawlers have been the preferred baits.

We are still waiting for the water to warm up and the bass to begin biting. Bass can be found around structure and bite in the early mornings and late afternoons.

Escondido's own, Bob Blackburn brought in a 1.85# Crappie on Thursday fishing with a silver kastmaster in Boat Dock Cove. Crappie prefer the cover of rocks or submerged willows in which to hide and are receptive to finger jigs and live golden shiners.
