Park Hours: 6:00 A.M. - 7:30 P.M. Open seven days a week.
Dock Closes: 7:00 P.M.
Last Plant: 1,500 lbs of Rainbow Trout Thursday April 26th.
Next Plant: 1,500 lbs of Rainbow Trout Wednesday May 2nd.
Water Temperature: At surface 61.70 f., 10.30 D.O. @ 15' 60.08 f., 4.06 D.O.
Water Level: Low level, private water craft are currently banned.
In order to protect Wohlford from invasive exotic Quagga mussels, there is still a temporary ban on private water craft and equipment that could have been exposed to mussels. Restricted equipment includes private boats, canoes, kayaks, float tubes, trolling motors, fish finders, anchors, and other equipment that contacts the water.
Lake Wohlford is offering $20 all day motorboats to seniors on Tuesdays and to active military on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
The trout fishing is good and only stands to get better with the final trout plant scheduled for May 2nd. Edgar Morales had the largest trout of the past week at 6.35#s caught on a nightcrawler, green powerbait combination in Boat Dock Cove. As the water continues to warm the trout will move into the deeper portions of the lake, better results can be obtained fishing the western half of the lake, or by boat. Powerbait (greens and yellows), salmon eggs, and inflated nightcrawlers have been the preferred baits.
The contest for the biggest crappie of the month has been a heated one with Rick Hatch, Wendell Jackson, and Isaac Weight all weighing in multiple fish. The leader for the month though belongs to Kyle Harrington at 2.15# caught on a crappie jig at Crappie Rock.
It is the time of year when all the different species of fish in the lake are being caught at the same time: trout, catfish, bass, crappie, bluegill, even carp, but with the final trout plant scheduled for Wednesday it won't last long. If you're a trout fisherman best to plan that last outing, or outings, sometime in the next couple of weeks.
