Bass: The Bass have not curtailed entertaining the anglers this week. Brian Fanshek caught and released amongst several others a fine 6 pound and 14 ozs Largemouth with crank bait near the North Shore. Martin Lowery, pictured above was out again this week with his fishin' pal doing their catch and release fish survey. Mr. Lowery reported 20 releases one being a 6 lb 10 ozer. They were throwing rattletraps, crankbait and flutes in the narrow part of the lake.

Catfish: The catfish bite is in full tilt. Many 2 to 4 lb whiskers were seen and reported. Jim Hill from Campo managed several limits through the week including one bullhead with nightcrawlers in the afternoons. Anthony Paynor from La Mesa limited with a stringer of 7lbs 12ozs. Rob Swigart of La Mesa was using chicken livers in Geezer cove when he corralled his 2lb 8oz cat. Tristan Johnson Photo #1 from Chula Vista was able to fool a 3 lb 2 oz kitty with nightcrawlers in Pumphouse cove. Afternoon has been the time they become the most aggressive.

Blue Gill: The anglers did well this week while casting for the other species in the lake picking up a few Bluegills.

Crappie: The crappie bite has slowed to zip.

Carp: These fish continue to surprise the folks rigged for cats or bass with their amazing strength and tenacity. And they know the way to brush. Great fun.
