Lake Conditions: Surface temperature is 77.5 and 73.8 @ 20 ft.
Water Clarity: Water visibility is to 3' to 5'
. ** IMPORTANT NOTE** There are currently no state fishing licenses available in Lake Morena so be sure you acquire one before you arrive.
Trout: The trout are still kicking at Paradise cove. Donna and Stuart Baldino from Descanso both limited in the cove with a combined total weight of 9 lbs. 2 oz. using nightcrawlers.
Bass: The Bass have not disappointed the anglers this week. Dustin and Devon Bender of Descanso were cruising the coves fly fishing fooling 6 Largemouth. Other anglers reports copious amounts of catch and release bass with varying degrees of success using secos, crank bait, and dark plastics.
Catfish: The catfish bite sees no sign of abatement. Loads of limits reported. Robert Pinal from San Pedro was tossing mackerel and limited two days in a row. One was 5 lbs 2 oz. Jim Hill was taking advantage of the afternoon bite to corral his monsters one of them weighing 10 lbs even. His bait of choice was also mackerel. They were up close to shore in the rocky areas. Please watch for submerged rocks.
Blue Gill: The anglers did well this week while casting for the other species in the lake picking up a few Bluegills.
Crappie: The crappie bite has slowed to zip.
Carp: These fish continue to surprise the folks rigged for cats or bass with their amazing strength and tenacity. And they know the way to brush.
